Suicide Squad director David Ayer has denied a popular fan theory about the movie suggesting a historical link between Jared Leto's Joker and Ben Affleck's Batman. Some fans are speculating that Leto's baddie could actually be Jason Todd, who in the DC comic book universe is the second of Batman's Robins. However, when asked about the theory by WSVN-TV', Ayer replied: "It ain't the case!" Suicide Squad - scheduled for release on August 5 - features a rogue's gallery of some iconic DC villains played by major Hollywood actors, including Will Smith as Deadshot, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Leto recently revealed that he spent time scaring passers-by in New York and Toronto in order to perfect the Joker's laugh. He also reportedly had a dead pig and a black rat delivered to his castmates, and admitted to arranging meetings with convicted psychopaths and "people who had committed horrendous crimes", as well as the doctors and psychiatrists who treated them. Meanwhile, Margot Robbie has shared new details about her character Harley Quinn and her relationship with The Joker, saying: "She loves causing mayhem and destruction. She's incredibly devoted to The Joker. They have a dysfunctional relationship, but she loves him anyway. She used to be a gymnast - that's her skill set when fighting."
